David Higgs is known for his love of food, art, wine and a good braai.
Launching his career in 1990 in Cape Town, Higgs has grown his love for cooking to include a culinary school, The Higgs School of Good Cooking, as well as starting his own catering company. On a number of occasions, he cooked for former South African President Nelson Mandela. In 2016, he opened his restaurant, Marble, which is now among the leading “live fire” restaurant experiences in Johannesburg. Two years later, he opened Saint restaurant also in Johannesburg. In 2018 David released his first book Mile 8: A Book About Cooking bringing together the unique flavors of Southern Africa with his distinctive cooking style. Higgs is passionate about developing young talent in the hospitality industry and educating youth on healthy eating.
